Tuesday Vintage is an online store and creative outlet created by Rachel March, an Australian freelance stylist providing seasonal trends, vintage threads and retro treasures that is loved by us and many. Not only has Rachel styled shoots for magazines such as Yen, Whim, Minc and Zephyr she also juggles the success of Tuesday Vintage and her beautiful little boy. Let us introduce you to this lover of all things vintage, young mum and entrepreneur...
Prior to Tuesday Vintage you were designing jewellery in Sydney successfully with 18 stockists both within Australia and worldwide. Why begin again and start Tuesday Vintage
The jewellery thing started more as a hobby and got serious just as I was finishing my first year of graphic design so I guess it was a mixture of not really having the time for it and also realising that I am NOT a designer ha ha! I wouldn't say I began all over again, everything I've done has lead me to Tuesday Vintage, everything I have learned, studied, all the interning, the mistakes, the people I met, places I worked etc EVERYTHING has contributed.
My soul mate and safe place. Sometimes if I'm stressed out I'll reorganise the shop rails, also vintage shopping is extremely therapeutic!
So owner of Tuesday Vintage, Stylist and yummy mummy! Please tell us how you do it all
With a lot of coffee, patience and support from my amazing family and in laws! Can I just say how nice it is to be asked about being a mum? I think this is the first time someone has asked me about that part of my life. I love freelance work and whats even better is coming home to my baby, who actually isn't a baby anymore (Phoenix turned two last month). Working from home and being able to be his mum is pretty damn rewarding. It's not as easy as it looks but we make a great team! He's a fantastic little helper.
I cannot live without
Lucas paw paw ointment, avocado, rose hip oil.
You have collaborated with many successful designers, creatives, industry names and magazines. Can you tell us what you think the key to your success is
I'm so passionate about what I do, I really think it comes down to that. Networking is super important also, but my passion for my business is what drives me, every single day!
When I was little I wanted to be
A rock star, a veterinary, a cat.
Stand out moment in your rise and success
It's hard to pick one moment, I would have to say all the collaborations I have done! I have worked with some amazing photographers, designers, make up artists, models, agencies etc.
Favourite shoot to date
Sally and I shoot this crazy abandoned house over the weekend, there was glow paint, silly string, glitter and sparklers ... it was insane! Definitely my favourite to date. See images above for 'Laundry Day' shoot by Rachel March and Sally Patti Gordon.
Starting and running a business is hard, juggling motherhood with that is even harder. What keeps you going
Passion and patience. I feel like I'm lucky in the sense that this is my day job. I love it to bits, that definitely keeps me going but passion for what I do is what drives me.
What is next for Rachel March and on the horizon for Tuesday Vintage
I'm off to America in October to do a few jobs and some vintage sourcing! Always lots of exciting stiff happening with Tuesday too! Keep up to date by following our Instagram!
