When we take time to be still, we each have a voice that whispers inside us, which is our calling. When we turn this whisper into a vision and take action, it becomes our reality. Helen saw visions of delicate beauty that flowed seamlessly with nature. A vision of a primal soul adorned with magical jewels, in touch with the rhythm of life's cycles. She danced in ecstasy and joy under the moon, by the fire, with the gentle earth caressing her feet. Always grounded, and connected to the great mother. As she shed layers that no longer served her, and let her inner light illuminate, Helen became her vision of the Gypsy Lovin Light that she was born to be. It is this light that she now radiates that resonates with many and why her blog and instagram account 'Gypsy Lovin Light' captures all the gypsy souls within us. Let us introduce you to Helen...
It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are. Can you tell us about Helen before she became a healer, bio medical naturopath, wife, mother and our favourite gypsy soul, and what lead you on this journey of love and light
My days before were all about self exploration and discovery. I was already on the healing path, I just needed to remember I was worth loving. They were very, very wild days. I was known as "Hellcat" and though there was a lot of crazy fun, sadly there was quite a lot of suffering and pain along the way. It is from these ashes though that my deepening of self love has arisen. Even in my darkest days, I always had a light inside of me to guide me back to my natural state of love. Piece by piece I have reclaimed who I am over the years. Each experience a lesson, each person a teacher - a reflection of myself, a reminder to love and accept who I am, no matter what that might be. Motherhood was the greatest of all lessons, and the catalyst for my blog.
A gypsy soul is
A timeless wanderer who moves with the rhythm of nature. A passionate creator, a magical conjurer, always thirsty for life's adventures.
To live and celebrate inner knowing and truth means shedding layers that no longer serve you. What have you shed in your life to evolve and because of this how has your life changed
The day I realised that someone else's perception of me wasn't who I am, was the day I was shed a multitude of layers. To know that what we see in others, is merely a reflection of ourselves, is such a gift of freedom. It's the permission slip we need to be truly ourselves. This has enabled me to step fully into my creativity and express myself freely and authentically. There is no fear of what another will think or believe, because whatever they do, is simply based on who they are, not who I am. It only ever matters what I think and believe about myself. There is no greater freedom than that.
Sometimes all it takes is someone to see your light shining bright to make it burn even brighter. Who have been your greatest teachers and what are the things that inspire you
My children, Jade and Jacob, and my husband, Bobby. The people closest to us in our life are the clearest of mirrors. They reflect all that we need to see to become whole. I am inspired by watching others follow their passions, especially those who have faced adversity in their lives. Those who courageously embrace who they are and share that with the world bring so much light. It helps us all feel more confident to be ourselves and share our unique gift to others.
Your gifts are
Listening with my heart. I'm a very sensitive, empathetic person. I think this is why I have been in the healing profession for most of my life. I also think I can throw some accessories together pretty well too to create something that channels all that love I'm feeling. Some things people might not know about me - I play classical guitar. I used to run a women's healing circle where I would play Tibetan singing bowls to vibrationally lift my energy and those around me.
You have described your husband and talented photographer as your kindred soul and mirror. Can you tell us about how your worlds collided and what you have discovered capturing your Gypsy Lovin Light together
We met many years ago now while I was road tripping through the North West of USA and Canada. It was definitely a cosmic alignment that brought us together. We did the long distance thing for quite some time before settling in sunny Perth :) Creating the photos together has been such a wonderful learning for each of us. This very intimate experience has brought us even closer than I could have imagined, and taught us a lot about communication. Our connection is stronger than ever thanks to Gypsy Lovin Light.
Your layers and love of styling have captured the hearts of many. How would you describe your style
A reflection of my soul's light. It's light, free and flowing with love and joy. It's holiday inspired to evoke peace, relaxation and wanderlust.
Favourite layers of jewellery and clothes right now
I'm loving lots of bright silver, rutilated quartz and opals. I have a slight obsession with finding the perfect worn in white slouchy tee. Nothing flash, but I'm obsessed! I also can't get enough of pale blue distressed denim, strappy back tops, embellished bikinis, and anything made from white silk.
What's next for Gypsy Lovin Light
I'm very excited about the new year and bringing my very own jewellery line to life. I've been dreaming up designs for some time now and I'm ready to get the ball rolling on this new venture. I'm also dreaming of living the endless summer and exploring more of this beautiful planet we live on.
Any advice for others who have a vision
Follow your heart and passion. Be yourself, and love all of who you are, because you are amazing. When we move each day from a place of love and passion for what we do, and who we are, that resonates through the cosmos. There is no stopping the manifestation of your dreams when you create from this space.
